Progressive's Move to Its Current Facility Highlighted in National Trade Publication.
Move Rebrands Agency and Clients Impressed With Facility
Greg Lang, Vice President for Strategic Initiatives for Progressive took the lead in finding new space for Progressive and successfully overseeing all aspects of the relocation when the company moved into its current space in 2003. Lang was consulted for a recent article in The Collector, the monthly publication of ACA International, the country's largest trade association of creditors and collectors. Making the Move was included in the January 2007 edition of the publication, and Lang's experiences in relocating Progressive were featured prominently in the article.
Lang was quoted about the methods he used to make the move as seamless as possible including finding the right location so that employees’ commutes would not be unreasonably expanded; ensuring the building had space for growth; procuring the right insurance for the new setting as well as insurance for the physical move itself; and planning, planning, planning. Lang also discussed how he achieved the support of the collection staff by providing them with on-going information and poster-sized photos of the remodeling that was taking place in the new space. Everyone was very enthused about it, he said. Prepping your staff for the move really helps a lot.
Lang also led the way when the move took place, logging 99 hours of work during the week that the company relocated (as did all of the company's IT staff). In the end, all the planning and time committed was well worth the effort. Clients have noticed! When I am visited by our clients, . . . they are always really impressed by the new space, Lang said. We often hear, 'This is the nicest facility I've been in!' But what we always hear is, 'This is the most secure facility I've been in.' It's a good feeling. In discussing the overall effect of the move, Lang said, The difference between our old space and our new space is night and day. I think if you take your time, start early and plan everything out, it's not just a move it can rebrand your agency. It did for us.
